There’s more to Pharrell Williams‘ Bionic Yarn line of fabrics than a fashion sense. It’s also an environmentally conscious label, using recycled materials in the production of the brand’s signature pieces. The company’s latest endeavor is a collaboration with brand G-Star Raw, and it’s called “RAW for the Oceans.”
The Bionic Yarn x G-Star Raw “RAW for the Oceans” denim collection is so named because of its use of denim made from recycled plastic taken from oceans and beaches across the world. The idea is that the plastic is better used in jeans than polluting the oceans, which is an idea that’s hard to disagree with.
Luckily for the oceans, the collaboration between Bionic Yarn and G-Star Raw isn’t slated to end with the “RAW for the Oceans” collection, as G-Star has pledged to continue using Bionic Yarn fabrics in future collections. As for “RAW for the Oceans,” it’s set to hit select G-Star Raw retailers on August 15th, but you can take a look at a short promotional video about the collection below.
