The story of Joe Paterno, who enabled and covered up the crimes of pedophile Jerry Sandusky for years before it led to his ultimate downfall, is coming to HBO. And to play him, the network has enlisted the same guy they got to play Jack Kevorkian and Phil Spector: Al Pacino. Now, there’s an intense teaser for Paterno to promote the film.
Some may be interested to know that Paterno was originally supposed to be directed by Brian De Palma, but at some point he was replaced by Barry Levinson (I will withhold editorial comment on this point). The real personnel coup here seems to be unknown actor Jim Johnson, who really makes an impression at the end of the teaser as Jerry Sandusky – you’ll see what I mean.
Check out the teaser for HBO’s Paterno below. And the movie itself is supposed to come out sometime in the spring.
