Durability has not exactly been the strong suit of the smartwatch, which makes it a risky proposition even for regular day-to-day activity, let alone high impact adventures across treacherous landscape. The Nixon Mission is purported to be the exception, billed as “the world’s first action sports smartwatch.”
The Nixon Mission has all the usual smartwatch functions courtesy of Android Wear, but with an outer shell that can withstand almost anything you can throw at it — sharp grains of sand, torrents of salt water, extreme heat and cold, and sub-surface water pressure with 10ATM water-resistance. The face is scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass, and features built-in functions with an action sports twist, like real-time surf updates brought to you from Surfline and much more.
Pricing and release details on the Nixon Mission action sports smartwatch are still to come, but you can tuned to Nixon’s site here for more information as it becomes available.
