What is photomicrography? You can probably put it together by analyzing the word itself, but in case you can’t it refers to images captured by a microscope or some other magnifying device. The resultant images can be pretty stunning, and never more so than in viewing the finalists in the Nikon 2017 Small World Photomicrography contest.
The Nikon 2017 Small World Photomicrography is the 43rd such annual event, lest you think that photomicrography is some kind of newfangled phenomenon. This year, the winner was the Netherlands Cancer Institute, which submitted an image of “immortalized human skin cells,” but to my layman’s eye anyway all of the images submitted are showstoppers.
