Nike recently announced that it was dropping the SB Dunk Low “Street Hawker.” It features a sleek design, with a vibrant colorway—and honestly is pretty fresh.
But there is more that meets the eye when it comes to these bad boys—and the details might just send you on the hunt for some Chinese food.
Yes, Chinese food.
The design features some pretty unique references to the Chinese street food vendors, which are a staple in a variety of different communities around the world. All without sacrificing the style of the shoe too.
A couple of quick hitters for you here:
The Heel tabs feature Chinese calligraphy for “food” in black and white thread. Also, the four colors of laces are inspired by four essential seasonings in Chinese cuisine: shallots, ginger, garlic, and black pepper.
And the design is even more layered than just that. The left and right shoe both have some individual features that pay homage to over 35 different Chinese street vendor references.
Finally, a unique idea!
