Forty-three years ago, before sneaker mania descended on planet Earth, a modest running shoe known as the Nike Cortez was released to an unsuspecting public. Since then, the Nike brand has changed a lot, as has the sneaker culture surrounding it, but now the sneaker is returning to store shelves as the Nike Classic Cortez.
The Nike Classic Cortez will return in one of its original colorways, a patriotic red, white, and blue ensemble. More specifically, the white leather upper is joined by hits of Varsity Red and Varsity Blue in the Swoosh logo, midsole, and heel, for a look that replicates the simpler 1970s while still proving its own relevance today.
If you don’t believe me, you can also take a look at the Nike Classic Cortez in the gallery below, and see for yourself how good the shoe looks in 2015. And to get a pair for yourself, head to your local Nike retailer on February 28th, when the sneaker is set to drop – or you can just stay parked at the shoe’s listing on the official Nike online store right here.
