Sometimes current events can do a lot to change the context of certain things. For example, take Nike‘s recent “Boston Massacre” t-shirt, pictured above, which was intended to cater to Yankees fans. What at first probably seemed like an edgy, but harmless, gesture now looks pretty bad in light of the recent events at the Boston Marathon.
So Nike has done the reasonable thing and has pulled the shirt from shelves. According to Nike representative KeJuan Wilkins, the company “took immediate action last week to remove this product from distribution” after the events in Boston.
Probably a good move, as I doubt anyone would be thinking about baseball anymore upon seeing the phrase “Boston Massacre” in blood-specked letters, unfortunately.
