One of the latest Nike releases is a tribute to Jerry Rice, legendary wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers. And it’s that team that provides the chromatic inspiration for the colorway that takes his name, in the Nike Air Trainer 1 “Jerry Rice” sneaker.
The 49ers aren’t the only aspect of Jerry Rice’s past to get a visual shout-out in the design of the Nike Air Trainer 1 “Jerry Rice” release – there’s also the brick-like graphic that graces the insoles, which might strike you as a non-sequitur until you learn that Rice’s father made his living as a brick mason. There’s also a trowel graphic on each heel, another reference to Rice’s brick-laying family background.
The Nike Air Trainer 1 “Jerry Rice” hit select Nike retailers on May 1st, so if you’re a fan of Rice and/or the 49ers and have $120 to spare you might want to head to the Nike online store here to pick up a pair for yourself.
