Like the complete works of Shakespeare or the recordings of Sun Ra, few have ever completed the task of playing all 714 of the titles available on the original Nintendo Entertainment System in their entirety. But a video game streamer on Twitch has done just that: Piotr Delgado “The Mexican Runner” Kusielczuk, after a nearly three-year journey that he dubbed NESMania.
NESMania began on May 28th, 2014, with a run through the game Whomp ‘Em. It ended on February 26th, 2017, when Kusielczuk beat the final level of the final world of Super Mario 3. All in all, it took him 3,435 hours to accomplish and he claims to be the first person in history to do so.
The whole endeavor got a lot of attention, and it’s easy to wonder exactly what The Mexican Runner will do now that this massive project has finally been completed. In the meantime, you can check out the NESMania rundown, including quality and difficulty ratings on all of the games, at Kuselczuk’s official site for the project right here.
