Everybody knows that it can be dangerous out there when it’s dark, especially for pedestrians. But what can you do about it? You could theoretically cover yourself in reflective material, but most people are content just to take their chances in the dark. Now there’s a solution that you can dream about even if you can’t afford it. It’s the Nemen L.E.D. Jacket.
The Nemen L.E.D. Jacket is an experimental piece of winter apparel that’s built with luminescent optical fibers woven into its nylon/steel mono-filament outer layer. It’s powered by two lithium batteries that go about eight hours on a charge, but before you start fretting about having to remember to charge your jacket you should know that it costs about $3,000, and each one is only made by Nemen on demand.
If you can’t afford to drop three grand on a jacket, even if it does light up, you still might want to check out the Nemen L.E.D. Jacket in the video below. Underneath that there are a few photos of the jacket, and for more information (as well as more from the Nemen brand), just head over to the official Nemen website here.
