Good news from MTV for those of you who long for those innocent days when you’d come home from school and watch TRL while you did your homework: VH1 Classic is being rebranded as MTV Classic starting on August 1st, as it becomes the home of “an eclectic mix of fan-favorite MTV series and music programming drawn from across its rich history, with a special focus on the 1990s and early 2000s.”
MTV Classic will burst into the world on August 1st, 2016, which happens to be the 35th birthday of MTV. The kickoff will be the first hour ever broadcast on MTV, before moving on to a retrospective of MTV programming over the years and eventually settling on the aforementioned 90s/2000s-heavy programming model.
If you’re a cable subscriber all you have to do is look up VH1 Classic and you’ll be all set to join in on the festivities. But even lowly non-subscribers can get in on the action at the channel’s Facebook page right here.
