When classic board game Monopoly was developed back in the 1930s, it was intended as a not-so-subtle critique of capitalism during the Great Depression. But it’s 2018 now, and it’s more than time for that critique to have its barbs resharpened – and so, we now have the Monopoly Cheaters Edition.
As anyone who’s ever played a game of Monopoly with unscrupulous family members knows, the game has always rewarded cutthroat, merciless wheeling and dealing. But Monopoly Cheaters Edition makes that subtext text, with special challenge cards like “Steal from the Bank,” “Remove Someone’s Hotel,” and “Give Someone Less Money Than You Owe Them.” Draw the card, and you get extra money if you accomplish the challenge, and are penalized if you fail. And if you get caught – there’s a nice jail cell right there at the corner of the board.
