Rhode Island cellist Olivia Culpo took home the Miss USA crown last night. The self-described “nerd” who considers herself a modern day Audrey Hepburn from Boston University will be taking a year off college to represent the United States at the Miss Universe pageant later this year.
Making it to the list of finalists, Olivia Culpo was asked a difficult question about whether she supports the inclusion of transgendered contestants in pageants like Miss USA.
“Would you feel it would be fair that a transgender woman wins the Miss USA title over a natural-born woman?” asked Kim Kardashian’s brother, Rob.
Open minded and intelligent, Olivia Culpo responded that she thinks it would be fair, and supports the idea. Kudos to her. The judges, including Donald Trump, loved her answer and it confirmed her place as the competition’s winner.
She didn’t have a chance to play her cello during the live telecast, but we’re told that she’s really good at it.
