The Minnesota Vikings are apparently following the old maxim that one should go big or go home in their plans for their new stadium. At a projected cost of $975 million, the Vikings’ new digs will sport, among other things, the largest transparent roof on the planet.
Note that I didn’t use the word “glass” in the paragraph above – that’s because the Vikings’ roof will be made from ethylene tetrafluoroethylene, a transparent material that can stand up to the harsh weather conditions in Minnesota.
A total of 65,000 fans will be able to sit comfortably in the new stadium, which is set to start hosting games in 2016. Check out a whole bunch of renderings of the proposed stadium in the gallery above – looks pretty sweet, doesn’t it?
