A new surprise announcement from Microsoft is the Surface Pro 3, the newest tablet in the company’s Surface line, and an unexpectedly significant upgrade over the Surface Pro 2. So significant, in fact, that Microsoft is claiming that the Surface Pro 3 is “the tablet that can replace your laptop.”
That impressive claim is supported by the Surface Pro 3’s big 12-inch screen boasting a 2160-by-1440-pixel resolution, and it’s constructed to simulate the experience of using a paper notepad.
Microsoft is also touting the Surface Pro 3’s sleek size, packing Core i7 innards into just .35 inches of thickness. Then there are the accessories, like a purportedly improved Type Cover and track pad that are supposed to enhance the Surface Pro 3’s laptop-like functionality.
