This September 21st is Peace One Day, represented by a United Nations initiative to standardize the date as a worldwide day of peace for soldiers, warriors, and fighters all over the world to put down their guns and stop killing one another for a hot minute. It was in this spirit that Burger King proposed the McWhopper to rival McDonald’s.
As its name suggests, the McWhopper would be a mouth-watering combination of the two fast food chains’ flagship sandwiches, the Big Mac and the Whopper. Or at least, it would have been, had McDonald’s not cruelly rejected the offer on Facebook:
The idea would have been for a limited-time-only McWhopper popup to open in Atlanta, a halfway point between the two companies’ headquarters in Chicago and Miami. The popup would have only served McWhoppers, and world peace may very well have been obtained, but now we’ll never know thanks to McDonald’s. For now, though, you can see what might have been in the video below, and check out the proposal’s official site right here.
