From McLaren comes the long-awaited successor to their legendary McLaren F1.

The McLaren F1 was the “fastest car in the world” back in 1998, and has been a respected piece of machinery ever since. As for whether the P1 will follow in those footsteps, Managing Director of McLaren Automotive, Antony Sheriff, had this to say:

“Our aim is not necessarily to be the fastest in absolute top speed but to be the quickest and most rewarding series production road car on a circuit.  It is the true test of a supercar’s all round ability and a much more important technical statement. Our goal is to make the McLaren P1 the most exciting, most capable, most technologically advanced and most dynamically accomplished supercar ever made.”

And they just may do it, if some of the initial reports are to be believed. We, along with the rest of the world, will find out more once the McLaren P1 is officially unveiled at the 2012 Paris Motor Show on September 27th, but for now, it is expected to surpass both the McLaren 12C and 12C Spider in both price and performance.
