Any inveterate skateboarder (or anyone who plays a lot of Tony Hawk Pro Skater) knows the feeling of being out in the world and imagining how cool a given locale would be if it were re-purposed as a skate park. But very few of them ever get to realize their dreams, which is what makes the “Match Made in HEL” project from skater Arto Saari and the Helsinki Airport such an interesting curiosity.
Saari, along with seven of his skateboarding friends, were invited to the Helsinki Airport and given free reign to skate all over the place, from outside on the tarmac to grinding across the baggage claim conveyors. And according to Saari, “Match Made in HEL” is getting turned into a film, which should be released soon.
