Skulls? Did someone say skulls? Then someone must have recently visited the National Gallery of Victoria, where artist Ron Mueck’s installation Mass is currently on display. The piece is made up of 100 hundred giant human skull facsimiles scattered across a gallery space as seen in the photo above. What does it all mean? According to Mueck himself:
“Mass intrudes into the 18th Century Galleries like a glacier inching across a landscape, crowding out the powdered, bewigged lords and ladies, a reminder of all our fates.”
Heady! That quote comes from The Sydney Morning Herald right here, but to get straight to the point you have until April 18th, 2018 to check out Mass at the first Triennial celebration for the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia. After that, the skulls are being shipped straight to Los Angeles, where they will be crushed by a giant metal foot for an upcoming Terminator sequel.
