Streetwear brand Married to the Mob made waves back in 2004 with its “Supreme Bitch” t-shirt, which was a parody of, and commentary on, the male-dominated world of street fashion, as well as the Supreme brand specifically. Now, despite Supreme and founder James Jebbia having given permission for the parody almost ten years ago, they’re filing a suit against Married to the Mob’s founder, Leah McSweeney, to bar her from using the logo.
From Jebbia’s point of view, McSweeney’s attempt to file a trademark application represented a breach of the original agreement. Jebbia says that he was under the impression that the “Supreme Bitch” t-shirt was a one-off, not the foundation for an entire brand.
