Every year, the snowy climes of western Finland become home to the Lapland Hotels SnowVillage, known colloquially as the “Ice Hotel.” This year, however, visitors to the hotel will get an extra-special treat, since staying in a hotel made totally from ice just isn’t enough. 2018’s version is constructed with input from HBO Nordic, following a theme based on the HBO series Game of Thrones.
The Game of Thrones Lapland Hotels SnowVillage will include a giant White Walker ice sculpture, an ice slide shaped like a dragon, icy replicas of the Braavosi Hall of Faces and the Iron Throne, as well as mercifully not-GoT-related activities like reindeer sledding and ice sculpting. The whole thing is made from 20 million kilos of snow and 350,000 kilos of ice, with rooms kept a cozy -5 degrees Celsius.
