The Lamborghini Gallardo has reached the end of its life-cycle, and now the sports car company has officially unveiled what will become its replacement: The Lamborghini Huracán.

The Huracán’s unusual name is said to come from a famous bull who fought in the late 1800s in Spain, and was known for  “showing his unrelenting character and remaining defiant and invincible, thus entering into the legend of fighting bulls’ history.” A lofty ambition for a car, but if anyone can back it up, it’s Lamborghini.

Stylistically, the Lamborghini Huracán isn’t hugely different from its predecessor, the Gallardo.  As for performance, the Huracán’s potential is a matter of imagination at the moment, as Lamborghini hasn’t released any firm details as of yet. But in order to compete with an increasingly saturated supercar market, the Huracán in action will almost certainly be something to see.

Pricing details haven’t been released either, but the Lamborghini Huracán is set to hit showrooms in the spring of 2014. In advance of more details, take a look at the above official photos of the car, straight from Lamborghini.
