On August 21st, 2017, the people of Earth will have the opportunity to see something that only comes around once in a lifetime, if that. I’m talking, of course, about the Krispy Kreme Chocolate Glazed Doughnut, which is apparently coinciding with some solar eclipse that’s happening at the same time, according to Krispy Kreme CMO Jackie Woodward:
“The solar eclipse is a rare occasion providing a total sensory experience for viewers across the continental U.S. Chocolate will have the same effect as we introduce a first-time chocolate glazing of our iconic Original Glazed Doughnut. The Chocolate Glazed Doughnut is a delicious way to experience the solar eclipse — no matter where you are — and we can’t wait for fans to try it.”
On August 19th and 20th, Krispy Kreme customers will be able to try the Krispy Kreme Chocolate Glazed Doughnut during “hot light” hours, followed by the doughnut’s full debut on Monday, August 21st. After that, you’ll have to wait until sometime in the mid-3000s to try it again.
Here’s an introductory video, which you can watch without any protective eyewear:
