There’s a traditional school of thought surrounding electric cars, shared by both the companies that manufacture them and the people who drive them. It’s that when you power a car with electricity rather than traditional gas or diesel, you sacrifice speed and performance for efficiency and environmental friendliness. But that school of thought isn’t shared by everybody – like Christian von Koenigsegg, the man behind the Koenigsegg Regera, an electric car that the company that bears his name says is the fastest one in production in the entire world.
The Koenigsegg Regera’s top speed is reported to be around 248 miles per hour, and it’s been claimed to be able to go from 0 to 250 miles per hour in just twenty seconds. It’s all thanks to the company’s Direct Drive System, which keeps the car’s three electric engines in check and working together without the traditional gears that power other cars.
That’s all technical stuff, though, and all I really know is that the Koenigsegg Regera is fast, fast, fast. It’ll cost you a fast $1.9 million and up, but you can check out a lot more information on the car over at the Koenigsegg site here for free. And you can also see a few photos of the car in the gallery below.
