Here’s a rumor that might spell big things for Kanye West‘s future in the fashion industry. The “Bound 2” star himself has again gone public with his dissatisfaction regarding his current contract with Nike, claiming to have not received any royalties for his incredibly popular Air Yeezy sneakers.
According to an article in Complex, Ye took the time during his Madison Square Garden Yeezus tour stop to take shots at Nike and Nike CEO Mark Parker, accusing him of trying to “son” him. Here’s the whole account of the situation, which is vintage Kanye:
“Mark Parker tried to son me. Yes. Son me because I am the sun and I will shine bright. And when I don’t have as much money as a billionaire and when I don’t have the factories that, that dude has over there, what I do have is my voice. Ain’t no corporation that can take me away from my voice and I’m going to scream at the top of my motherfucking mountain as loud as I want. Anything I want. Whenever I want. Is that crazy? So I’m going to make the announcement on Monday with the corporation that finally let me get an opportunity to create.”
The schism between Kanye and Nike is leading some to speculate that he is heading to adidas for his future fashion ventures, but an official announcement is still to come. Stay tuned.
