One of the most intriguing pieces of information to come out of last year’s Sony email hack was the suggestion of a cross over between the 21 Jump Street and Men in Black franchises. Now, it turns out that it wasn’t just idle chatter between Sony executives, but that there’s actually a Jump Street/Men in Black crossover in the works.
The Jump Street/Men in Black crossover is still in its early stages, but according to a recent report by The Wrap, it will be a parody of the hot trend of “shared universes” in movies:
“21 Jump Street” took aim at reboots, while “22 Jump Street” targeted sequels, so it makes sense that the next “Jump Street” movie will send-up the current trend of Shared Movie Universes by having Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum enter the “Men in Black” universe and investigate aliens.
It sounds like a pretty funny idea, and the report goes on to say that the cast and crew of the Jump Street movies are currently in negotiations to appear in the movie. Which of course raises the question – will Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, or the rest of the Man in Black crew be making an appearance? Only time will tell.
