Skateboards have to be sturdy and durable in order to serve their intended purpose, but those qualities can also hold some potential once its lifespan as a skateboard is finished. It took George Rocha of Iris Skateboards to realize that potential in full, however, and the company’s process in turning old skateboards into new stuff is the subject of a new short documentary called Day by Day.
Day by Day shows how Iris Skateboards recycles old beat up decks into coffee tables, tap handles, and even new skateboards. This is done with a combination of old-fashioned craftsmanship and Rocha’s passion for skateboarding—passion which has transmuted itself into a desire to incorporate it even into everyday furniture.
If you’ve got five minutes to spare, you can watch Day by Day below. And to check out the fruits of these efforts by George Rocha and Iris Skateboards, head over to the brand’s official site right here.
