Hybrid cars aren’t known for their performance, or their speed. But that may soon change, thanks in part to Infiniti and their new EMERG-E supercar. It made its official debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed over the weekend, and by all accounts, it had an impressive showing.
The EMERG-E showcased, among other things an acceleration to its top demonstrated speed of 0-130 miles per hour in just 30 seconds. If you’re impressed by that kind of performance from a hybrid car, you’re not alone: that high-level performance also seemed to be good enough for Formula ONE driver Mark Webber, who had a stint behind the wheel of the car during the festival.
It’s not known if the EMERG-E will be the car that popularizes the hybrid once and for all, or how much it will cost when it hits the market, so stay tuned.
In the meantime, here is a closer look at the Infiniti EMERG-E.
