Unless you’ve been in suspended animation for the last several years, I don’t have to tell you that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is the biggest thing in movies right now, and I probably also don’t have to tell you that every company with an even mildly deep pool of intellectual properties is trying to cash in on that same juju. And so we have official reports of a “Hasbro Cinematic Universe” that will incorporate characters from half-remembered shows/toylines like M.A.S.K., Micronauts, ROM and Visionaries.
I’m going to be honest here: apart from ROM, which I’ve heard of but never read or seen, and Micronauts, the other properties that will incorporate the Hasbro Cinematic Universe are more or less unknown to me. Luckily for Hasbro and the project’s studio overlords at Paramount, they also have the GI Joe series forming the cornerstone of these movies, not to mention Transformers, which appears to be its own separate thing (think of the Autobots as the X-Men of the Hasbro Cinematic Universe).
You can get more details on the Hasbro/Paramount brain trust at The Hollywood Reporter right here. And if you’ve got any old Micronauts toys sitting around at your parents’ house, tell your mom not to throw them away.
