Lightsabers are naturally the most iconic weaponry from the Star Wars franchise, but they’ve always been a bit saddled with spiritual, mystical, Force-related baggage for my taste. Give me a good old-fashioned laser blaster any day — in fact, give me Han Solo’s blaster from Return of the Jedi, after you pick it up at the Hollywood Legends auction from Julien’s Auctions in June.
You probably don’t need much additional information here, but suffice it to say that this particular version of Han Solo’s blaster was designed specifically for the film as part of a pair of non-firing prop weapons wielded by Harrison Ford in Return of the Jedi. Here’s Martin Nolan, Executive Director of Julien’s Auctions on the piece:
“Julien’s Auctions is thrilled to discover this rare and important piece from one of the most influential Hollywood films of all time used by one of film history’s most beloved heroes, Han Solo. The Han Solo blaster is one of the most exciting offerings of genuine Star Wars movie prop memorabilia ever to come to auction given the provenance of this piece coming directly from the Art Director from Return of the Jedi.”
The bidding starts on Han Solo’s blaster as well as the rest of the Hollywood Legends lineup on June 18th, at the Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. Get more info from the event’s official press release here.
