As beloved as the first movie is and remains after over 40 years, the Halloween franchise is not exactly one with a stellar track record. So it seems like both an artistically and commercially savvy move to retcon all of them out of existence, with a new sequel that picks up 40 years after the original left off. And so it is:
“Jamie Lee Curtis returns to her iconic role as Laurie Strode, who comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.”
The trailer for the new Halloween makes it even clearer that the franchise’s long, inevitably tangled mythology is being wiped away by this new entry. And much more importantly, it looks fun as hell:
Halloween comes back on October 19th, and you can get more info at the film’s official site right here.
