The GoPro camera has already revolutionized the way regular people can collect awesome first-person video of their adventures, but now the company is taking the next logical step for any camera maker: 3D video. It’s called the GoPro Dual HERO System, and it works (like most 3D recording systems) by capturing two simultaneous images that are then combined to create the 3D illusion.
Of course, the whole thing would be pointless if the GoPro Dual HERO System couldn’t go everywhere a regular GoPro can go, so with this kit you’re supposed to be able to get the same kinds of footage a GoPro can get, only in 3D. The footage is converted to 3D using free software straight from GoPro, so you don’t have to be James Cameron to figure out how to do it.
The GoPro Dual HERO System contains two (sold separately) HERO3+ Black Edition cameras, and goes for just under $200 from GoPro’s online store here. You can also see a few photos of the system from GoPro in the gallery up at the top.
