Google is a company that simply refuses to be one-upped by the likes of Microsoft and Apple. The company practiced its one upmanship yesterday with the announcement of a new tablet device called the Google Nexus 7, which is set to rival both the Apple iPad and the Microsoft Surface.
The Google Nexus 7 is powered by the company’s latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS and costs $300 less than a basic iPad, at only $209 at the Google Play website. The Google Nexus 7 will heavily run on Google’s Play service, which offers a host of applications, games, magazines, and books.
The device features a 7″ 1280×800 IPS display with a 1.2MP front-facing camera, a Quad-Core Tegra 3 GPU, a gig of RAM, and 8 hours of battery life on continuous use. The Google Nexus 7 is currently being offered in 8gb and 16gb versions, and at such a low price, we can’t help but think of it as a steal.
