It would seem unlikely that a family friendly company like Hasbro would team up with “The Godfather”—a movie franchise that is as mature as it comes.
Perhaps a Hasbro executive woke up with the head of his favorite horse in his bed. Either way, the company has announced that they will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of “The Godfather” by releasing a Godfather-themed version of Monopoly.
Players take on the role of the various Cosa Nostra families in The Godfather, amassing property and influence as they seek to bankrupt those around them. Rather than buying and selling locations like Park Place, players will instead trade the likes of Woltz International Pictures, Moe Green’s Casino, Joe’s Diner, and Hyman Roth’s Home as they muscle their way to an empire of crime and corruption.
The game’s tokens include a cannoli, a Genco Olive Oil tin, the Don’s limo, a dead fish, a tommy gun, and the aforementioned decapitated horse head.
It’s available now for $39.95 from Amazon.com and various meatspace retailers like Toys-R-Us.
