If you’ve recently found yourself on the banks of Seattle‘s Lake Union, you may have noticed a curious structure floating in the middle of the lake. It’s the Floating Sauna, a crowdfunded project from goCstudio that’s pretty much exactly what it sounds like.
The Floating Sauna is a buoyant combination of aluminum, plywood, and an electric motor to propel it across the surface of the water. Inside, it’s lined with spruce and it looks and functions just like a regular sauna, favored by high-ranking members of the Russian mafia and anyone else who likes a good shvitz.
goCstudio conceived the Floating Sauna as a one-and-done project, but it reportedly cost over forty grand in crowdfunds on Kickstarter to bring to completion. You can check out a few photos of the project in the gallery below, and get plenty more information on it at goCstudio’s official site right here.
