With the rise of internet streaming, there’s never been a better time to be a movie-lover. But while it may seem like there are more movies readily available now than ever before, hardcore cineastes have noticed a dearth of certain kinds of movies—like classics, foreign films, obscure documentaries, auteur deep cuts, and so on. For these individuals, there is now a designated streaming service called FilmStruck, a joint effort by Turner Classic Movies and the Criterion Collection.
FilmStruck is basically the online streaming embodiment of the phrase “quality over quantity,” with carefully curated selections from all four corners of the cinema universe. And many of the movies are titles that Netflix or Hulu subscribers wouldn’t even know existed if they got all their info from those services.
FilmStruck is available in two different plans, one that includes the Criterion Collection’s revered film library and one without. The lowest price is $6.99 a month, but with an up-front payment option you can get the Criterion plan for just a couple bucks more per month. You can check out the service, and browse its entire impressive library, right here.
