Selling stuff online is a time-honored tradition dating back to the early days of Craigslist and even earlier. But selling stuff on Facebook is even more of a crapshoot than using Craigslist or eBay, dependent mostly on who happens to see and/or share your listing—but now a new feature called Facebook Marketplace facilitates the process automatically.
In Facebook Marketplace, you can see what’s being put up for sale near you, and list your own stuff so potential buyers can see it. Unlike eBay or Amazon, though, “Facebook does not facilitate the payment or delivery of items in Marketplace,” so you’re on your own there.
Facebook Marketplace is rolling out for users 18 and over in the US, UK, Australia, and New Zealand, so keep an eye out for it if you are in those areas and looking to wheel and deal. For more info, check out the official Facebook blog post on the subject right here.
