Ever since the hashtag’s surge in popularity, thanks to its use on social networking sites like Twitter and Instagram, people have been using them on Facebook. But until now, using a hashtag on Facebook didn’t really do anything.
Now, Facebook has announced that hashtags posted on the site will become clickable, taking users to other public posts containing the same phrase, just like on Twitter. It’s all part of a gradual roll-out of features from Facebook that are supposed to make interacting with other public comments easier and more prominent among users. And that gradual roll-out means that you might not see the new functionality on your Facebook page right away, so #BePatient.
The announcement came in the form of a post on Facebook’s blog, which you can check out here.
