It’s been four years since the last installment of the Double Dragon franchise, and since nothing from the latter part of the 20th century is safe from this century’s insatiable lust for remakes, reboots, and sequels, the recently released teaser for Double Dragon IV should come as no surprise to anyone.
Released to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Double Dragon, the new teaser for Double Dragon IV has about a minute of gameplay from the original Double Dragon before showing what the new game is like – a retro-styled game that reflects the franchise’s 8-bit origins, rather than an update the brings the series into the current era of video games.
You can see the teaser for Double Dragon IV below. The game will reportedly come out in Japan before it hits North America, so stay tuned for more information like availability and pricing as we get closer to its eventual release date at some point in 2017.
