Is there an element of sadomasochism involved whenever you eat spicy foods? As someone who loves really hot food, I don’t know if I’m comfortable with the assertion that I’m a raging masochist on the inside, but that seems to be the subtext of a new ad for Domino’s Sriracha pizza.
The Domino’s Sriracha pizza ad is actually playing into two themes floating around in the zeitgeist right now – Sriracha hot sauce, and 50 Shades of Grey. And then there’s the image of a partially-anthropomorphized tongue chained to a wall, which is like something out of a mid-period Cronenberg movie. It’s a weird advertisement, is what I’m saying.
