Like any other object you carry around with you everywhere, smartphones can get pretty dirty. But even most waterproof phones aren’t built to withstand the serious water pressure necessary to satisfyingly wash away mush and gunk, which is why Kyocera’s DIGNO Rafre smartphone is such an enviable product.
The DIGNO Rafre is a smartphone now available in Japanese markets that’s engineered to be water-resistant enough for heavy-duty washing, not just selfies in the shower. And you can even scrub it down with soap as well as running water without having to worry about gumming up the works.
Unfortunately the Kyocera DIGNO Rafre is restricted to Japan for now, but you can read a lot more about it at Engadget here, and check out one being washed in the promotional video below. And be sure to stay tuned for more information on a possible North American equivalent of this technology to become available soon.
