Web aggregator Digg was sort of like the Reddit of its day, with huge amounts of visitors that the site would send funneling into various corners of the internet that could crash servers and make millions of dollars, has reached a very unceremonious conclusion. The once-mighty website has been sold to a web company called Betaworks for just $500,000.
Making this tiny sum even more remarkable is that just four years ago, the people at Digg turned down an offer from search giant Google worth $200 million! That meteoric drop in price is a great demonstration in how quickly fortunes can evaporate in the world of the internet. Take note, internet people.
