It was apparently a slow day at Converse HQ, so they decided to put out a pair of dress shoes. The brand took its own Jack Purcell sneakers and converted them into dress leather shoes, narrower and shinier than the traditional sneaker model.
Diehard Converse fans might notice that the dress leather edition of the Jack Purcell sneaker is missing its most distinctive visual touch, the “smile” that’s found across the toe. Despite that, these Jack Purcell dress shoes from Converse are clearly the Jack Purcell silhouette, albeit with a very formal twist.
Given the Jack Purcell’s recent status as a vintage fashion icon, that twist isn’t too much of a stretch. But it’s still an inspired item from Converse, as you can see in the picture above. As for release details, this appears to be a Converse Japan joint for now, but a worldwide release at some point in the future is possible. So stay tuned for more info on the Converse Jack Purcell dress shoe.
