It would appear to be a good time to be a prison food connoisseur. A few days ago it was announced that cultishly adored prison snack The Whole Shabang was available on the general market, and now we have Albert “Prodigy” Johnson’s Commissary Kitchen: My Infamous Prison Cookbook.
The cookbook is a followup to Johnson’s book My Infamous Life, and focuses on the culinary side of his time in prison, including plenty of recipes. It’s not all recipes, though, since Commissary Kitchen also discusses what it was like to prepare food during Johnson’s more than three years inside. And unlike another recently released prison cookbook, this one doesn’t just focus on ramen noodles.
Commissary Kitchen: My Infamous Prison Cookbook comes out (or should I say “gets out”?) on October 11th, and you can pre-order your own copy in paperback for a little over $15 at Amazon right here. Then, the next time you feel the walls of your apartment closing in, just head to the kitchen and take advantage of the atmosphere.
