I’m afraid Johnny Depp has gone into that netherworld where a lot of big stars go after they get too famous and too detached from real human life. But he can still wrangle a lead role or two, and his latest is City of Lies, which luckily for all of us has some points of interest apart from its deeply flawed star. I mean:
“Based on the true story of one of the most notorious and unsolved cases in recent time, CITY OF LIES is a provocative thriller revealing a never-before-seen look at the infamous murder of The Notorious B.I.G. shortly following the death of Tupac.”
That’s right, Depp is playing LAPD detective Russell Poole, who in reality investigated and possibly solved Notorious BIG’s famously unsolved murder. Check out a trailer for City of Lies below:
Unless the LAPD steps in and destroys it, City of Lies hits theaters on September 7th, and its official site can be found right here.
