Chuck Jones, was, in the opinion of this writer, the best director of Warner Bros cartoons during the studio’s legendary heyday animation. But now, you can finally stop taking the word of some schlub on the internet for this, thanks to a cool new video from movie scholar Tony Zhou called “Chuck Jones – The Evolution of an Artist,” part of his awesome Every Frame a Painting web series.
“Chuck Jones – The Evolution of an Artist” will give you a great idea of what made Jones’ work special, and some real analysis into just why it works so well even today in just eight or so minutes. And since it’s largely made up of clips from Chuck Jones’ cartoons, it’s also wildly entertaining and funny in the meantime.
You can check out “Chuck Jones – The Evolution of an Artist” for yourself below. And for more from the (highly recommended) web series Every Frame a Painting, just head over to Zhou’s Patreon listing here.
