The Cessna aircraft company has just put together its newest longest-range private jet, the Citation Longitude. The new aircraft was unveiled at the European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (EBACE) at Geneva, Switzerland in the middle of last month.
The new jet carries a 4,000 nautical mile range and flies at a maximum speed of Mac .86, which makes it almost as fast as a military jet. It’s priced around $26 million but you won’t be able to pick one up right away, as it’s only expected to enter into service (barring any delays) in 2017.
The Citation Longitude sports two Silvercrest engines, carrying 11,000 pounds of thrust, and up to eight passengers. The motors are said to be easy to maintain, light, and fuel-efficient.
“This engine is expected to take the Citation Longitude to a new level and give our customers the range, efficiency and noise-reduction they need to be successful in today’s competitive environment,” says Cessna president Scott Ernest.
The aircraft will have a roomy width of 86 feet and a maximum overall length of 87 feet. It offers plenty of space and luxury, considering the relatively low price for a private passenger jet.
