The miniature gaming console trend is getting out of hand. My social media feeds this afternoon are flooded with people complaining about sold-out SNES Classic Editions and the consequent price-gouging on the secondary market, and now I found out that Retro Games is putting out a miniature version of the Commodore 64 next year, called the C64 Mini.
I’ll be honest, I don’t really know much about the Commodore 64 besides it being a fairly common punchline in 2000s-era humorous parlance. But the C64 Mini will reportedly come programmed with classic games like Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe, Paranoid and California Games, so, uh, great! Speedball 2 fans rejoice!
The C64 Mini will also connect to your 21st century TV with its HDMI port, and it’s roughly half the size of the original ‘Dore. Keep an eye out for the miniature console sometime in the “earlier side of 2018,” when it’s supposedly going to be released.
