It’s one of the most iconic movie automobiles of all time that doesn’t have a name that ends in “-mobile”: The 1968 Mustang driven by Steve McQueen in the 1968 film Bullitt, often cited as home to one of the greatest car chase scenes ever filmed. For many years, the car was thought to be lost in the shuffle of history, but at the North American International Auto Show, one of the original cars used in the film was on display to promote a brand new 2018 Ford Mustang inspired by the film. In case you haven’t seen the movie, here’s the most important part:

The Bullitt Mustang had reportedly been tucked away in a garage in New Jersey since the 1980s. As for the new hotness, it’s based on the old Mustang GT and serves up a top speed of 163 miles per hour – but I seriously doubt you’d be able to catch the late McQueen dead driving a car with an LCD touchscreen inside.
