It’s not unfeasible that at some point in the relatively near future, some movie executive will get the bright idea to adapt Breaking Bad as a movie. But fortunately, that’s not what ‘Breaking Bad – The Movie’ is—at least not in the way you’re thinking.
Instead, ‘Breaking Bad – The Movie’ is the work of a fan of the show who took the entire five-season series and condensed it into one 127-minute feature film. That’s the rise and fall of Walter White, alias Heisenberg, in the same time it took him to crack that police station evidence locker with magnets—not a bad use of time, if it works.
I admit I haven’t gotten to check it out for myself yet, and it would appear that in the time it took me to write this that ‘Breaking Bad – The Movie’ got yanked off of Vimeo for violating Sony’s copyright. Let this be a lesson to everyone out there: make sure you’re clear on what constitutes fair use before you spend “two years of sleepless nights of endless editing” making a movie out of your favorite TV show. For more info, or to see if maybe they figure out a way to clear it for public consumption, check out the project’s official account on Vimeo right here.
